About Me

About Me

I am a fully qualified Psychotherapist offering Counselling and Psychotherapy on a one to one basis to individuals over the age of 14, either Face-to-Face, Video Call or Telephone.

I work collaboratively with clients in a safe, reflective and non-judgemental manner.

As an Integrative Psychotherapist, I have training in a vast range of approaches. Fundamentally, I believe it is the relationship that a therapist and client create together within their sessions that can lead to great self-exploration and ultimately change in one's life.

As a registered member of both The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and The British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), I abide by UKCP's and BACP's Code of Ethics and Practice. In line with such codes, I undergo regular supervision with a registered professional to ensure good practice.

What is Counselling?

What is Counselling?

Definition

Counselling is sometimes referred to as Therapy or Psychotherapy.

It aims to provide individuals with professional assistance and guidance in resolving personal and psychological difficulties. A counsellor or psychotherapist is trained to listen without making any judgments. They work in a safe and confidential environment and aim to work alongside clients, to empower them whilst working on any difficulties clients may present.

As Human beings, I believe we all come to a time where we feel stuck, confused, overwhelmed and find ourself having nowhere to go or to turn to. It may be through counselling that one can start to untangle that confusion, that upset or hurt, it can be a place to learn things about yourself you hadn't even considered. Initially, it can be a difficult process to engage yourself in but over time you can reap a lot of benefits, be it in your personal life, your career and in your relationships. Just the process of talking things through with someone who has no preconceived ideas about you can be healing.

Process of Counselling/Therapy

I inform all new clients that the first/ preliminary session, which acts as an assessment, gives both the client and myself a chance to meet and discuss what brings them in to therapy and whether we could work together, without any other obligation. If we agree to work with one another, we will then arrange a time and day to commence with therapy. Therapy takes place once a week and will be on the same day, at the same time (unless otherwise arranged). This once a week meeting with a therapist is usually referred to as a session, which lasts 50 minutes. The duration of counselling/therapy is up to the client, short-term therapy can be anything between 6-12 sessions, which may involve working with something very specific in one's life, whereas long-term therapy can last longer, working with more complex issues.

Confidentiality

Anything a client shares in sessions with their therapist is kept confidential, unless it is deemed that they are at risk of harm to self or others. It is only then that confidentiality may be breached. The client will always be notified before this occurs.

Fees and Insurance Cover

Sessions are £70 each. Payment can be made by cash or bank transfer prior to each session.

I am also recognised by Aviva, AXA and VitalityHealth Health Care Insurance providers.

If you find that I may be some help to you, please feel free to contact me either by emailtext or a telephone call. I would be happy to discuss any questions you may have about counselling and psychotherapy.
